After passing through commissioned officer training at the Royal Military College Panthera entered the British Army as a lieutenant in the King's Royal Protection Unit. His father arranged for him to serve on the staff of a friend, General Sir Ursidae III, His first military experience was serving in Kaddywampus during the 1886 uprising.
